Annual School Blitz another great success this year: reports submitted by Catherine Murphy
Tuesday, 19th June 2018
Well done to all the boys and girls in our local primary schools who took part in the Schools football blitz today!
Thanks to all their teachers for preparing them so well for what was a great feast of football!
27 teams in total took part in the blitz. It was great to see players from the Minor and Senior teams up helping organize and referee the games.
They are a credit to the club and we could not have done this without them today. Thanks also to Micheal O Connor for organizing the event!
Dunderrow NS won the 1st/2nd class blitz after beating Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile in the final. Summercove won the 3rd class blitz and beat Gael scoil in final.
Have a great summer everyone and we look forward to seeing you all up in the GAA Club!
Thursday, 21st June 2018
Kinsale GAA Pitch was again the venue for the Schools football blitz today but this time 4th, 5th and 6th provided the spectacle!
Summercove NS won the 4th / 5th class blitz after defeating the GaelScoil in the Final by 4pts in a cracking contest with both teams displaying great skill and determination.
The 6th class blitz was between two of the Summercove teams who had previously defeated two GaelScoil teams in the semi finals.
With all the skill displayed on both days of these blitzes Kinsale GAA is in a great place for the future.
Thanks again to all the players, especially all the Under 14 players who came along to ref and help out in any way!
And a big thank you to Micheal O Connor and Eithne Fitzpatrick who organized both blitz!
We hope everyone enjoys their summer holidays and continues to play football and hurling over the summer!!

Celtic Challenge Match Report (3 players from Kinsale GAA involved on the West Cork Team):
CORN JOHN SCOTT
WEST CORK 2-18 CORK CITY 1-17
Coachford was the venue for the all Cork clash last Saturday with Cork West prevailing in a fiercely contested quarter-final clash over neighbours Cork City.
A goal in injury time from Colm O'Donovan finally sealed a mouth-watering clash in favour of the Westerners. Cork City trailed by 10 points at half time with Cork West storming into a strong lead aided by a strong breeze.
Aided by a dominant back line which conceded only six points in the first half, Cork West were able to get plentiful ball into the forward line, which contributed 1-10 from play in the opening half, with superb link up play throughout and John O'Brien getting on the end of numerous passes to finish the only goal of the half in favour of the Westerners. Conor O'Sullivan kept the City in contention with four pointed dead balls in the first half to leave the half time score, 1-13 to 0-6.
Cork City, with the wind at their backs in the second half started strong, with the move of Daragh Milner up to the forward line proving inspirational scoring two from play and winning two frees. A Niall Hartnett solo effort in the 50th minute, billowed the Cork West net and left only 2 between the teams. An inspirational Ben Aherne point was quickly followed by two frees from Padraig Holland which looked to be enough for the Westerners but Cork City rallied again and trailed by two points going into injury time. That is when Colm O'Donovan struck for the decisive score to see Cork West into the Semi Final to face Waterford.
Best & Fairest Players: Ben Aherne (West Cork) and Peter O’Brien (Cork City)
Scorers for West Cork: John O'Brien 1-3, Padraig Holland 0-4 (2fs), Colm O'Donovan 1-1, Aidan O'Donovan 0-4 (3fs), Chris O'Connell 0-3, Ray O'Hallorhan 0-2.
Scorers for Cork City: Conor O'Sullivan 0-10 (9fs), Niall Hartnett 1-2, Joseph Harte 0-2, Daragh Milner 0-2, Cathal Crowley 0-1
The Semi-Final will take place this Saturday, 23rd June at 2pm in Killeagh GAA Grounds. West Cork take on Waterford in what promised to be a great clash of the ash!! Once more best of luck to our 3 Kinsale Players on the West Cork Team, John O Brien, Kealan O Rourke, Conor McCarthy.

Some parents have expressed an interest in getting involved with the coaching and supervision of the sessions. If you are available for the coaching course, can you please let me know asap?
If you would like to help out in any way going forward, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you! Help is needed on the committee and with administration, organising events, pr, washing the kit etc…many hands make light work, even occasional help is welcomed and appreciatedJ
