Intermediate Mens Football – report on R1 Championship submitted by Conor O Brien
The group would like to thank all the supporters who travelled on a miserable day to Watergrasshill. The support truly helped the players on the day.
Kinsale played against the strong wind for the first half and struggled to convert scoring opportunities from good field positions, although Steve O Neill came up from goal to nail a monster 45. At half time Mitchelstown led 1-7 to 3 points.
However, the Kinsale players regrouped and rallied from the first whistle of the second half using the strong wind to help convert points from Gear Finn, David Ward, Brian Coughlan. The momentum swung and at the half way mark of the second half Mitchelstown were rattled until somehow they found themselves in on goal and finished well.
The lads never threw the towel in and came back again with a well taken goad by Sean O Brien - with more well converted scores following Kinsale cut the gap to 5 points, but lost the race against the clock!
The next round has provisionally been fixed for July 7/8 V Ballinora.
U21 Ladies ease into another County Final: submitted by Catherine Murphy
Another great win last Friday evening, for the Kinsale U21 Ladies as they eased past Glanmire to claim their spot in another County Final.
Kinsale got off to a great start with Goals from Sophie Webb, Jenny Murphy and Juliette Cronin and led 3-5 to 0-8 at Halftime.
Glanmire kicked some great points in the second half but great play by the backs and goalkeeper Grainne Cowhig, kept their forwards from putting the ball in the back of the net!
Supers goals from Georgia Gould and Aoife O Leary confirmed the win for Kinsale and the game finished 5-12 to 1-15 in favour of Kinsale.
Thanks to Michael Murphy for having the pitch in great condition! With most pitches in the County closed, it was great to have this big game at home.
We look forward now to a County A final!!
Best of luck to the team and their Mentors!!
Huge Congratulations to Kinsale Community School:
The Senior B Hurling Team of Kinsale Community School are County U18A Champions after a brilliant display of hurling and determination last Friday at CIT. There was never a doubt on which way this County Final was going to go – the final score 2-14 to Colaiste Choilm 0-09. Kinsale GAA had a number of players on the field of play with their School Team – along with Brian Murphy who is one of the teams mentors. A fantastic win and occasion for all involved. Very well done.
Our own Orla Finn on the crest of a wave at the moment with National League Semi-Final for Cork Ladies Football Team ahead!:
Best of luck to our very own local hero Orla Finn and the Cork Senior Ladies Football Team in the Lidl National League Semi-Final this weekend. Orla is having a phenomenal season and is already making a huge impact for Cork and Kinsale Senior Team. Orla has been nominated for GPA Player of the month – so don’t forget to keep voting (see Facebook for all the details).

CLIMB4CLARE CHARITY & LGFA
Hi Marian
We are delighted to inform you that members of the Cork Arc Cancer Care Centres recently completed the CLIMB Leader Training through our Climb4Clare fundraising and will now be delivering CLIMB across the county with the first commencing on 26th April.
Climb® helps children that have a close significant adult who has been diagnosed with cancer and the feedback from parents has been amazing.
The programme educates children as part of an enjoyable, sharing, interactive experience and provides a time for the children to come together to deal with their feelings.
Clare Clarke, the reason for Climb4Clare, was a member of staff in the Ladies Gaelic Football Association for no fewer than 11 years. She was a bright, vivacious character that was known throughout the country for her good humour and commitment to the sport. Clare was diagnosed with breast cancer and was a mother of two young girls but showed typical resolve and determination to overcome this disease and she triumphed.
However, heartbreakingly, the cancer came back, and more aggressively, five years ago and Clare sadly passed away on the day our first training took place on 31st January 2015 but has left a legacy behind through Climb4Clare. Clare articulates how important this initiative is in this brief YouTube video.

Clare was also our special guest at the TG4 All Stars in the Citywest Hotel and you could hear a pin drop in a room full of 1000 people while being interviewed by Marty Morrissey. A link to this is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPpNKOJlFFg [1]
CLIMB4CLARE - YouTube www.youtube.com
CLIMB4CLARE is a fundraising campaign being organised by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association to raise much needed funding to ensure the provision and roll...
The CLIMB programme will be able to assist so many families in our communities and as we have ladies gaelic football clubs in all local communities in Cork I would appreciate if you can forward this to all club secretaries to send to any members that this excellent programme will assist and also please feel free to advertise wherever you require.
I have attached a poster for Cork Arc and anyone can contact them if they have questions.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
