Ladies Intermediate Team
Now that the dust has settled a bit after the weekend and the All Ireland Final, it is important to emphasise and acknowledge once again how proud we all are of our amazing Intermediate Ladies Team – to reach another All Ireland at a higher grade is just a phenomenal achievement. It wasn’t to be our day in Dublin last Sunday; to be beaten by a point is heart breaking, but equally it also shows just how close these two mighty teams were on the day. Our incredible Kinsale Team gave absolutely everything, their determined never give up spirit evident all over the pitch, from every single player, for every single minute of the game. There wasn’t an ounce of energy or play left come the final whistle – everything was left on the pitch. And that’s all you can ask for in a team, they did themselves, their families, their friends, their club, their community very very proud.
Before they left for Dublin they were our Champions and Heroes – they are still our Champions and Heroes, an inspiration to everyone especially our young players and we will all be forever grateful to them for taking us on another wonderful journey in Season 2017. Their legacy will be forever captured in our all hearts and no doubt this legacy will continue to be updated with Season 2018 and Senior Status ahead. The first ever Senior Team in our Ladies Football Club and the first Senior Team across the board for Kinsale GAA in a long long time.
To the Mentors, Coaches, Medical Staff of this Team – we say a special thanks for their commitment and dedication in playing a huge part in getting this brilliant team to the heights of success it now enjoys – ye are a force to be reckoned with – well done one and all!
What an evening we had at the homecoming in the Car Park on Sunday night.
With Blue and White Flags and Bunting, everyone gathered there eagerly awaited the arrival of their heroes – happy to pass the time chatting and sneaking the odd jelly or lollipop. The children of course enjoyed the sweets too ;-)!! As the team bus appeared on the hill, the roar went up and Flags were waved as it passed Perryville and around into the Car Park where it was met with great cheers and endless clapping for our returning warriors! A fitting heroes welcome for our back to back County and Munster Champions and All Ireland Finalists. Thank you to Seamus Corkery for playing the tunes at this special homecoming and getting the atmosphere going in the Car Park. To Con O Callaghan who got proceedings underway, to Santa for taking a break from his busy schedule to be with us!, to Chris Cronin for his passionate and incredible introduction of the entire Intermediate Panel to the crowd. To the outstanding Aoife Keating (Captain) for her superb speech…..emotional and inspiring.
What a year ahead we have to look forward to…..…
(see Facebook for the photos).
Thank you to:
All the supporters for travelling basically everywhere encouraging the team on – especially the huge contingent that travelled up the M50 on Sunday to be there.
To the unbelievable crowd that gathered in the Car Park on Sunday night to welcome this great team home and give them a homecoming to remember that they most definitely deserved.
To all the volunteers who helped put the homecoming together and to everyone who helped out along the way during this All Ireland Campaign.
To the Blue Haven, THE BEST SPONSORS a club could ever have – for your incredible support, you have been just amazing and Kinsale GAA are thrilled and honoured to be associated with you – thank you once again from everyone in the club.
Here in Kinsale GAA we are so lucky to have many fantastic volunteers who put their heart and soul into the club at all times, but just in respect to the Ladies Football Club in particular, there are two, who always work tirelessly for the club, but who really pulled out all the stops and worked every hour possible and so hard during this year’s (2017) Intermediate Ladies All Ireland Campaign.
Two Legends - Catherine Murphy and Noel O Sullivan. The amount of work that these two people have put in since it was confirmed that Kinsale would be hosting the All Ireland Semi-Final has been unreal - between endless phone calls, meetings, being the point of contact, liaising with various different organisations and local businesses, getting our facilities ready, promoting, organising, arranging hotels, buses, new Jerseys, the list is on-going and would take up way too much time to type out!!
Thank you both for very sincerely for everything you do for the club – the phrase/cliché “we’d be lost with you” is often used, but Kinsale GAA would really and truly be lost without you both – legends of our club.
Joint Ladies Football & Camogie AGM
Our AGM will now be held on:
Thursday, 14th December
At 8.30pm
In the Top Section of Aperitif, Blue Haven
Everyone welcome to attend.
Please come along to our AGM and find out what’s happening in our Club and the plans for the future.
We are urging people to please come along if they can – we are urgently now looking for more volunteers and helpers across all sections of the club, from coaching, to admin, to helping out at the café, stewarding/traffic control during training sessions and matches.
Ø Admin could be a job as easy as looking after sending out the Text/WhatsApp messages for a certain age group confirming training or match details! Collecting Registration Forms,
Taking a roll-call of all children at a training session, passing around a sheet for new parents in particular to fill out their details.
Ø Being involved in coaching might involve helping to bib up 25/30 U6 year olds before they start training!! Or being on hand to look after trips to the loo, tying shoe laces! Collecting bibs, cones and balls once training is finished.
There are loads of ways a small contribution of your time could really really help. A Rota System can be set up to spread the load.
We can no longer rely on the same people to carry on doing all the various jobs without additional help…………… our underage numbers have tripled in the last 4/5 years as the club expands at a phenomenal rate. Our Club is in a fantastic place at the moment - huge successes again so far this season on the field play, numbers increasing year on year. To continue to run the club at the high standard we have all become accustomed to – we urgently need more help.
WE URGE YOU PLEASE TO COME ALONG AND GET INVOLVED IN YOUR CLUB – THE SMALLEST OF JOBS BEING LOOKED AFTER, ESPECIALLY AROUND COACHING, REALLY DOES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE (FOR EXAMPLE BY BEING THE PERSON TO COLLECT THE BIBS AND BALLS AFTER TRAINING COULD MEAN THE COACH CAN GET HOME PERHAPS 10/15 MINS EARLIER THAN NORMAL!!)
If you can’t make the AGM but would like to help out – you can contact the people below or reply to this email. Many thanks for your continued support.

Club Draw – An appeal for people to buy the remaining Tickets:
There are only a few remaining tickets left in the Club Development Draw………… this equates to a lot of potential fundraised money for the club and the planned developments, which will benefit all our members in the long run. It would be great to have a sell-out draw this year.
The more we can use of money raised ourselves to develop our facilities the better off the club will be. With all the successes on the pitch the club is in a fantastic place at the moment – the drive now is to match our facilities with the huge success of our teams.
Remember you don’t have to bear the €100 ticket price on your own. You can set up a direct debit to give €10 a month, you can split and share the ticket 2 ways, 4 ways !!
If you are interested in buying a ticket – you can reply to this email or text Emma on 086-3926527.
Many thanks for all your support for the club – it is very much appreciated.
