Thank you:
The perimeter fencing around the main pitch started going up on Monday and is a work in progress. Thanks a mill to all the volunteers who braved the very cold weather on Saturday last to help get the old wiring down, poles cleaned down and painted and other jobs completed – you are all definitely on Santa Good List for this Christmas.
Thanks so much again!!

Fantastic News for the Club this morning:
The club has secured a grant from the Sports Capital Grants Scheme of €95,000! This is amazing news and will without doubt bump up our Club Development Fund hugely. Thanks to everyone involved in this process on behalf of Kinsale GAA Club - all the hard work/meetings etc were worth it!

What a weekend ahead for Kinsale GAA:

Noun – Best = meaning:- that which is the most excellent, outstanding

The above description of the word Best could just as easily be the description you would get if you were to look up Kinsale GAA in the Oxford English Dictionary! Mind you the GAA part could confuse things a bit ! (piece of useless information for you! – it tells you what it stands for and also gives you 33 acronyms of what GAA might also stand for :-) :-) !!)

What a weekend of excellence ahead - An Intermediate All Ireland Club Football Final and a Minor County Football Final. Kinsale GAA is one of the rare few clubs nationwide that work together as One Club – but is probably even more rare again with regard to the amount of success it has had recently.

Intermediate Ladies Club All Ireland Football Final V Dunboyne, Meath:

With only 3 sleeps to go to competing in another All Ireland Final the pre-match excitement/nerves are already building. Everyone is ready, everyone is hopeful, everyone is so proud.

Our Intermediate Ladies Football Team are in a word ‘amazing’ – what they have achieved in the last two seasons is just outstanding – when you stop and actually think about it – it’s just incredible – 2 County Titles, 2 Munster Titles, 2 All Ireland Semi-Finals won and now through to their second All Ireland Final in a row. At the Captains Day yesterday, Aoife Keating did us all proud as she represented our club brilliantly – Kinsale joined the two other Cork Clubs Mourneabbey (Senior) and Aghada (Junior) in Croke Park for the pre-match build up. To have 3 Cork clubs represented at every grade in the All Ireland Series is phenomenal, it’s safe to say the future of Ladies Football is very bright in the county of Cork.

The team and mentors of course, always had the belief, they always knew that this glorious time was coming, there was never a doubt. Staying under the radar they kept training hard, remained determined, committed and focused, continued to stay strong and ambitious, grew together as a team and as individuals and when everything aligned and the time was right, they grabbed the opportunity with both hands and haven’t looked back since.

The road to success is not easy…… if it was, anyone could do it! It takes sacrifice and hard hard work, there is no short-cut. To win an All-Ireland Semi-Final on your own home turf, in front of your peers, in front of your home-town, knowing the work that had gone into getting the club ready, the planning for such an event – is a measure of how great this team actually is. An incredible feat to overcome that kind of pressure and still win!!

This team really can do no more now – they are as ready as they will ever be – they will use all this experience on All Ireland Day and come 1.45pm on Sunday, 3rd December in Parnell Park, they will give it absolutely everything and leave everything on the pitch! There will be no regrets at the final whistle!

They are already an inspiration, especially to all our young players, both boys and girls, who now know – success isn’t just on TV, it’s not just for the big city clubs – it’s there for everybody – you just have to want it bad enough and work hard!

The Club and the town of Kinsale are already immensely proud of this wonderful team – they are our Champions and we will always be in awe of all their achievements and be truly grateful for taking us all on this remarkable journey. The next time RTE are looking to make a Ladies Football documentary, they should look south and showcase our great teams journey to unbelievable success – Blue & White Sisters!

The very best of luck Ladies – we are all routing for you - Kinsale will be in Parnell Park on Sunday – Is Feidir Linn!

Parnell Park, Dublin - Sunday, 3rd December, 1.45pm – Intermediate Ladies Club All Ireland Final V Dunboyne – it’s time to turn Dublin Blue & White. Let’s leave Kinsale in huge numbers to show our support and appreciation for our brilliant team. Chionn tSáile Abú!!

Minor County Football Championship Final V Aghinagh (near Macroom):

With the Minor County Hurling Championship Final already in the bag – this team are now on a quest to add the County Football Title to their resumé as well. And along the way could create more Kinsale GAA History by becoming the first ever Minor Team to win a County Football Final. Having already created club history by becoming the first ever Kinsale Minor Hurling County Champions, to add the Football Title would be just phenomenal.

In the highly competitive world of Men’s GAA to reach and win a County Title is an outstanding achievement – and now to have secured a place in another County Final is just extraordinary, an exceptional accomplishment – Hurling title secured – Football title – fingers and toes crossed!

Just to put it in perspective these are the Men’s County Titles won by Kinsale GAA;
Intermediate Hurling – 1926
Intermediate Football – 2011
Junior Hurling – 1918, 1933
Junior Football – 1900, 1932

And now Minor Hurling – 2017

(Got all of this great information from the copy of our Kinsale History book (and confirmed by two esteemed Kinsale GAA gentlemen before going to print ;-) !! ) A very handy book to have around the house – makes for a perfect Christmas present- don’t forget to get yours!!)

So as you can see County Titles are not easily come by and are hard fought wins – this Minor Team are also proving that with hard work and training, continuous practising, especially for hurling, will bring the results in the form of East and County titles. Like our Ladies Intermediate Team, our Minor Boys are top-class players that our younger underage players look up to and respect.

Our Intermediate Ladies and Minor Boys have raised the bar to new heights when it comes to fitness, skill, dedication and not forgetting the fact that a good proportion of our Minor team is made up of Under 16s and our Intermediate Team has players from Under 15/16, Minor, U21 - this level of commitment and enthusiasm is outstanding from such young teams.

So a huge occasion for our Minor Team this weekend – their mentors are ready, the team are ready to face the biggest challenge of their season to date – securing a second County Title.

They deserve all our praise and unwavering support for all the hard work week after week - they deserve a massive crowd out in Ballygarvan on Saturday, 2nd December. They take on Aghinagh, Throw-in is at 1.30pm. Please come along and show your support for our fantastic Minor Team – Ballygarvan is a short distance to travel from Kinsale – Bring Flags, wear the club colours. Lets show our Minors how very proud we are of all their achievements this season.

The very best of luck Lads – we are all behind you – Is Feidir Linn!

So a great GAA weekend lined up – first Ballygarvan, then Parnell Park – be there to support and encourage all our amazing players. Be part of something special – this is an incredibly successful and important time for Kinsale GAA – be part of it!

These Intermediate and Minor players are already heroes and winners, already great ambassadors for sport. They each possess as a team the core values of what is also great about Kinsale GAA Club; loyalty, passionate about our sport, inclusiveness, equality….

Club Draw – An appeal for people to buy the remaining Tickets:
This is an odd request we know in light of the big announcement above about securing €95,000 in the Sport Capital Grant Scheme! However, while this huge sum of money will impact our Development Fund massively, we still need to fundraise and add to this figure and the money already raised, so that we can borrow less from the banks. The more we can use of money raised to develop our facilities the better off the club will be. With all the successes on the pitch the club is in a fantastic place at the moment – the drive now is to match our facilities with the huge success of our teams.

There are only 30 tickets left in the Club Development Draw………… this equates to a lot of potential fundraised money for the club and the planned developments, which will benefit all our members in the long run. It would be great to have a sell-out draw this year.

Remember you don’t have to bear the €100 ticket price on your own. You can set up a direct debit to give €10 a month, you can split and share the ticket 2 ways, 4 ways !!

If you are interested in buying a ticket – you can reply to this email or text Emma on 086-3926527.

Many thanks for all your support for the club – it is very much appreciated.
