Game Day Approaches – Sunday 19th November – Kinsale V Moycullen:
Only 3 more sleeps to the biggest game that will probably ever be played at Kinsale GAA Clubs Bandon Road Pitch. Throw-in at 1pm. The excitement, the buzz surrounding this game is almost touchable.
The town is ready – blue & white are the only colours that exist here in Kinsale these past weeks. What an amazing site to behold as you drive to Kinsale, from the 4 fabulously decorated tyres on display, two on the new road (i.e. near Keith Floyds house) and two out on the Dunderrow Road, to the sea of blue & white bunting and flags adorning the town everywhere. The unique Kinsale community spirit to the fore once again – always willing and ready to support our local heroes.
At the top of the hill on Bandon Road The Pitch stands ready. Having received a ‘make-over’, the pitch itself is in pristine condition and the facilities look absolutely wonderful. All its waiting for now is the sound of the Referee’s whistle, the roar of the crowd and 30 pairs of football boots covering every square inch of its surface.
The Team is ready…………This group of women continue to astound and amaze us with their achievements, 2 County Titles, 2 Munster Titles and to reach a second All Ireland Semi-Final for the second year in a row is an incredible feat. They are an inspiration to us all, in particular to our younger players – what better ambassadors of the sport, what better role models could we ask for.
Make no mistake this is by far their biggest game, their biggest challenge……… playing to a home crowd full of family, friends, school friends, club mates in an All-Ireland Semi-Final. Playing on that same pitch they used when they were younger, sitting in the same dressing rooms that they know so well………everything is familiar…………yet at the same time, different.
This is a unique occasion, one that hasn’t been experienced before by anyone in Kinsale GAA and while it’s an extremely great honour and privilege for the club to host this major game; to take on the job of creating a most special and extraordinary event that will linger fondly in the memories of all Kinsale people, the travelling Moycullen team and their supporters; to acknowledge and salute this momentous event in Kinsale GAA Club History;………… the priority of this Intermediate Ladies Football Team is to look past all that and focus on the job at hand – to win. It’s a task that this Team is more than capable of; yes there will be extra pressure and it will undoubtedly feel a bit surreal, but these amazing women have proven time and again how confident they are, skillfull, full of pride, tough, brave, resilient; they are first and foremost friends with a very special bound; team mates who will play to the ends of the earth for one another and never ever give up. They will proudly don the Blue & White and will leave their hearts and souls on the pitch on Sunday and make each and every one of us, who are privileged to be there watching, incredibly proud.
Support on the side-lines is a key – encouragement for the team from start to finish is so so important. Support for this remarkable team has always been phenomenal – lets continue to show our Support now in huge numbers when it matters most…………………………………….
This match is different, this is home, this is the All-Ireland Semi-Final, Be part of this very special day – 1pm, Sunday, Be there - not to be missed!!

VERY IMPORTANT – URGENT APPEAL:- Help needed for Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th November:
Only a few more days to the All Ireland Semi Final and preparations are well and truly underway with most jobs done n dusted now. Just a few small jobs remain that can only be done closer to, and on the day itself.
The club is urgently looking for some more volunteers please:
For Saturday, 18th November at 3pm to help put up the Marquee. (1 hour to 1.5 hours at most)
For Sunday 19th November – Stewards for Parking (in Seanie Pitch) and directing traffic, helping at the two entrance gates, Stewards for crowd control, to name but a few jobs. Stewards would be needed from 11.30/11.40pm. (Meet up at the pitch for this time).
If you have some spare time on Sunday please please put your name forward to help. This is a great day for the club so get involved and be part of the occasion.
As we need to have an idea of numbers can you please reply to this email or contact Emma O Callaghan on 086-3926527 or Noel O Sullivan on 087-8257599.
Many thanks everyone – don’t forget to help out if you can please.
Important- re Parking for All-Ireland Semi-Final.
Not that anyone needs reminding at this stage but as you know the Intermediate Ladies are playing their All-Ireland Semi-Final at home this Sunday 19th November at 1pm V Moycullen.
1. We are making a special appeal to people living locally, who are attending the match, not to drive to the game please so that we can leave as much parking room as possible available for the travelling Moycullen supporters and for people who travel in from neighbouring areas etc.
And also to lessen the already large volume of traffic that is expected on the road in the lead up to the game and after the game. Bandon Road will be an extremely busy spot on Sunday.
2. Parking will not be permitted on the road.
3. We are asking people to be respectful of those who live across the road from the pitch and near the pitch on Bandon Road by not parking outside their homes in these estates please.
4. Pedestrian Access Only to the match via Bandon Road gates.
There will be no parking allowed in Bandon Road facilities(apart from those that need to be near the pitch i.e. wheelchair & disabled parking spaces in Bandon Road only).
All other cars will be diverted to 'Seanie's pitch' (i.e. The pitch just below our Main Facility) where there is pedestrian access to the main pitch. Kinsale GAA Stewards will be on duty to direct you.
As already said traffic is expected to be very busy on Bandon Road on Sunday. We are asking everyone to please be vigilant and patient - to be very mindful and careful when walking / driving in this area, especially where there are young children.
Many thanks for your support and co-operation in this important matter.
All things Blue & White!
Don’t forget to decorate and show your support for our fantastic Ladies Intermediate Football Team, Munster Champions and through to their second All-Ireland Semi-Final in a row. The Semi-Final will be played on our Main Pitch, on Bandon Road on Sunday 19th November, Throw-in at 1pm. Fantastic to have a home draw for this big match.
Everything you need to go Blue & White is available from Maurice Murphys Shop – Flags, Bunting, Car Flags, Teddies, Hats etc.
Supporting Autism Irelands Blue & White Santa Hat Campaign
The club is getting involved with Autism Ireland again this year – the Santa Hats cost €3 each which goes directly to Autism Ireland.
It’s a win win for Kinsale GAA and Autism Ireland - we get to use and wear their fab Blue & White Santa Hats to support our amazing Ladies Football Team and Autism Ireland receives all the much needed donations towards their Christmas Fundraising Drive.
The Blue & White Santa Hats are now available from Maurice Murphys shop.
Many thanks for all the support!
A word of Thanks from our Facilities Development Officer, Michael Murphy:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you very willing workers for the excellent work carried out yesterday (i.e. last Saturday 11th November). A lot achieved in just one day.
Michael”.
At our recent Club AGM, Michael stepped down as Facilities Development Officer. It has been a role he has held for many years and to say he did a lot of work to better the facilities at Bandon Road and Dunderrow would be an extreme understatement.
Michael has worked tirelessly maintaining and improving all the clubs pitches and facilities along with the entire Field Committee members. Working behind the scenes – just getting the job done!
With all the work that had to be completed to host the All Ireland Semi-Final, Michael was as usual to the fore in organising and completing the tasks that needed to be done. The club are indebted to Michael for all his years of service and would like to take this opportunity to express its sincere thanks and appreciation.
Naturally though there is absolutely no sign of taking it easy as Michael is still involved with all the last minute jobs for Sunday and no doubt will continue to be a huge presence up at the pitch – no stepping down from Dedication I guess!
Thank you Michael – from everyone at Kinsale GAA Club.
Chairman’s Role:
Our Club Chairman also finished up his term at the Club AGM last Saturday. John Martin Nyhan took up the challenge 3 years ago and oversaw a club that continued to increase in membership annually and become more successful on the field of play. Not only did John Martin take on the Chairman’s role but also continued to be part of the Junior Hurling Coaching Panel. Well done John Martin on a great 3 years as Chairman – he now takes up the Vice Chair Role and we welcome and congratulate Laurence Murphy who is now our new Club Chairperson. Laurence brings a wealth of knowledge to the role and will no doubt continue to help the club to excel at all levels. We wish him the very best of luck in his new role.
We are always looking for new members to become involved at a committee level – if you have any interest in doing this please reply to this email and we can pass on any and all information. Being involved at committee level is a great way to experience and understand the workings of the club !!
REMINDER – BOYS UNDERAGE AGM & LADIES FOOTBALL & CAMOGIE AGMs:
Please find attached Minutes of last years Underage AGM.
Boys Underage AGM
Saturday, 18th November, Temperance Hall, 8.00pm – the Minutes of last years meeting are attached,
Ladies Football & Camogie AGM
Friday, 8th December, Charlesfort Suite, Actons Hotel, 8.00pm
Please come along to our AGMs and find out what’s happening in our Club and the plans for the future.
We are urging people to please come along if they can to one of these AGMs – we are urgently now looking for more volunteers and helpers across all sections of the club, from coaching, to admin, to helping out at the café, stewarding/traffic control during training sessions and matches.
Ø Admin could be a job as easy as looking after sending out the text/WhatsApp messages for a certain age group confirming training or match details!
Ø Being involved in coaching might involve helping to bib up 25/30 U6 year olds before they start training!!
There are loads of ways a small contribution of your time could really really help.
We can no longer rely on the same people to carry on doing the various jobs without additional help…………… our underage numbers have tripled in the last 4/5 years as the club expands at a phenomenal rate. Our Club is in a fantastic place at the moment - huge successes again so far this season on the field play, numbers increasing year on year. To continue to run the club at the high standard we have all become accustom to – we urgently need more help.
This is not just the usual appeal for help – all our Clubs (Adult, Boys Underage, Ladies & Girls Football, Camogie) are quickly nearing that point where coping with the huge numbers is getting more and more difficult.
HELP IS NEEDED URGENTLY – THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY INVOLVED CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. SO PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A FEW HOURS A WEEK TO SPARE - PLEASE GET INVOLVED IN YOUR CLUB.
If you can’t make one of the AGMs but would like to help out – you can contact any of the Chairpersons below or reply to this email. Many thanks for your continued support.
