‘Good Day at the Office’ for Kinsale GAA last Saturday, 7th October 2017
By approximately 7pm last Saturday evening ‘a good days work had been done’!
The Intermediate Mens football game was not long finished at 7pm in Ballinaspittle (5pm start). This was a crucial relegation decider and knowing that a win would guarantee intermediate status for at least the next 2 years, the team made sure from the throw-in that this battle was only going one way. Final Score 4-18 to 2-4. A fantastic win for the Kinsale men – a great display of team work and team spirit as everyone pulled together to get the job done! Very well done and congrats to all the players and mentors on a great finish to their season.
Before that our Under 14 Boys were on duty with their East 1 A Football Championship Final to contest in Belgooly. Taking on a very fancied and very strong Ballinora side – it was ‘game on’ right from the whistle at 2pm. The Kinsale Boys worked very hard and matched Ballinora all over the pitch – it was end to end play with 2 points being the most between the sides at any given time during the match. Both teams had the chance to claim a dramatic win at the very end – the supporters nerves pushed to the very limits. It ended all square at 1-7 to 1-7 – so its all to play for again! The replay will possibly be this Saturday – as soon as all the details are confirmed we will send out the information. Congrats to everybody and best of luck in the Replay.
The Intermediate Ladies Team started off the day competing in their, 2nd in a row, Munster Club Championship Semi-Final at 11.30am in Mallow. The opposition, reigning from Kerry, Austin Stacks were hoping to turn the tides on their defeat by this Kinsale Team last year at Junior Level. However, Kinsale from the start, soon had that notion well and truly ‘put to bed’. With 20 minutes gone the scoreboard read 4-6 to 0-1 in Kinsale’s favour. The team played outstanding not giving Austin Stacks any chance to keep hold of the ball and the final score reflected this……. 8-17 to 1-5.
So its another Munster Club Championship Final ahead. Building on last year’s phenomenal success, having won the Munster title at Junior Level (and progressing all the way to the All-Ireland Final) the Ladies Team were determined to have this first milestone, of achieving the double, and reaching the Munster Club Championship Final again wrapped up.
What an incredible achievement by this amazing team – they have trained hard all season, with a place in the Munster Intermediate Final their reward. They must now await the outcome of the other Semi Final between Tipperary and Limerick to see who their opposition will be on the weekend of October 21st/22nd, when the Munster Final will be played. As soon as details are confirmed we will send out this information straight away.
This team (including players and mentors) deserves so much praise and support – they are an outstanding group of friends and team-mates playing with and for each other – they are determined, committed, focused, patient, brave and so modest, taking nothing for granted.
They are more than deserving of all our support and encouragement – it is now our turn, once again, to show this incredible team how very proud we all are of them. If you have any blue and white flags, hang them outside yer houses – decorate windows with blue and white drawings. Decorate School and Business windows.
It’s time once again for Kinsale to go Blue & White - lets all be part of it……………
10am Saturday morning, 7th October – a lovely warm, dry Autumn Day is underway ……………………… here’s hoping it will be a good day for all our teams on the field of play …………fingers crossed :-) :-) :-) :-):-)!!!!!!!!!!

Facilities Development Update
Over the next couple of months, the perimeter fencing on the main pitch in Kinsale will get a significant upgrade – replacing all the wire and adjusting the poles as part of this work.
This will be completed before the end of 2017 so expect to see an upgraded and refreshed pitch fence perimeter all ready for the start of the 2018 season!
Given the increased playing numbers across all parts of the club, there is a committee actively reviewing options for suitable facilities for the club moving forward.
Over the past several months this has included looking at potential sites for new facilities and this search is ongoing.

Kinsale GAA Club - Lost and Found:
The lost and found boxes are full to capacity – with loads of club tops (half zip ones) and t-shirts, 2017 cúl camp tops and lots and lots of other tops, jackets (bottles, lunch boxes and a pair of football boots (very small size U6 perhaps).
This jacket was also found by our Field Committee when lining the pitch recently so if any coaches from visiting teams have been enquiring re a lost jacket it maybe this one: O'Neill's windbreaker found by the dugout. It's black with a green stripe.
In keeping with tradition all unclaimed lost and found clothing is donated to the local St Vincent de Paul Shop at the end of October and all bottles/lunch boxes are unfortunately just dumped. Training for most groups is now finished but you can contact Emma on 086-3926527 who can arrange for access to the Lost and Found Box for anybody that would like to go through it.
After the October Bank Holiday weekend we will deliver all the stuff to St Vincent de Paul.
Many thanks.
